About the Opportunity

Garnduwa is currently looking for a HR Coordinator to join their team in Broome WA. This role will develop, implement and manage the HR operations of the organisation.

A strong and practical knowledge of relevant employment legislation will be the cornerstone of the role as you identify challenges and find solutions that reinforce a positive workplace culture.

This role will provide operational HR, recruitment and training expertise to the organisation to deliver best practice HR solutions, as well as providing high level advice and support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Corporate Services Manager (CSM) and other senior employees. An energetic, positive and enthusiastic outlook is a must!

Primary Objective

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Promote and demonstrate the Garnduwa values of Culture, Community & Leadership with a deep respect for Aboriginal people, culture, land, sea and tradition in all components of the role
  • Provide human resource support to the CEO and CSM to ensure effective HR systems are operating
  • Conduct organisation-wide training needs assessments and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed, ensuring employees complete all training requirements in order to complete their role to a high standard
  • Support managers to undertake performance reviews with all staff to communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions
  • Support whole of staff meetings and training sessions with regards to human resources subjects, in conjunction with the Office Manager & Executive Assistant
  • Work closely with Corporate Services Manager and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through with implementation
  • Support Senior Management in the communication of all operating policies and/or issues at staff meetings, as required
  • Prepare, develop and vary all employee contracts and job descriptions
  • Ensure all employees are engaged and managed in-line with NES, SCHADS Award and Fair Work standards
  • Develop suitable resources that support efficient administration of HR processes
  • Ensure compliance with Working with Vulnerable People federal and state legislation
  • Support special projects as directed by the CEO or CSM
  • Manage and complete end-to-end recruitment tasks, including succession plans, for all roles in a timely manner
  • Manage on-boarding and off-boarding processes, including induction, probation and exit interview processes
  • Act as the point of contact for all payroll enquiries
  • Ensure HR systems and processes are kept up to date

About You

 ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Formal qualifications in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience
  • Experience in human resource functions including recruitment, probation management, performance review and performance management
  • Ability to assess training needs and develop associated plans
  • Experience in conflict management and dispute resolution
  • Experience and ability with communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders, with the ability to adapt accordingly
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  • Willing & able to travel remotely across the Kimberley, as required
  • Hold a current Driver’s License, Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)

 

 DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certificate IV Training & Assessment
  • A keen interest in Sport & Recreation
  • Experience working with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award

 Please note: This role may involve some travel to remote Aboriginal communities, including use of dirt roads, small aircraft or 4WD vehicles.

Established in 1992, Garnduwa Amboorny Wirnan is a not-for-profit organisation established to promote and support the delivery of quality sports and recreation programs in the Kimberley region of WA. Now working with over 30 remote communities, their services have expanded to include leadership, self-esteem, healthy eating and suicide prevention programs, designed in response to problems with school attendance, physical/mental wellbeing, and involvement with the juvenile justice system.

As a key service provider to remote communities, Garnduwa recognises the importance of having local community members involved in the delivery of their programs, empowering people by promoting their values of Culture, Community and Leadership to achieve a shared vision for healthy, active and strong communities across the Kimberley.
