About the Opportunity

Garnduwa is currently looking for  a full-time Operations Manager to join their team in Broome WA, responsible for the providing integral financial and corporate support to the Senior Leadership of Garnduwa

Primary Objective

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the management of the internal finances of Garnduwa, as well as asset management, contract management and compliance. The role is based in Broome, however, has a Kimberley wide footprint and the ability to travel remotely is an integral requirement of this role. Applicants must be able to travel as required to remote Aboriginal communities and regional centres. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Corporate Services Manager. An energetic, positive, and enthusiastic outlook is a must.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in the preparation, review and negotiation of all contracts and agreements to which Garnduwa is a party, with a particular focus on the financial and compliance elements
  • Assist in the negotiation and preparation of MOU's, partnership and grant agreements
  • Develop and manage the organisational budget: Forecast requirements; prepare and manage the annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyse variances, initiate corrective actions in consultation with the CEO and Corporate Services Manager
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Checking and finalisation of payroll reports
  • Work with accountant and auditor to ensure budget and accounting standards are upheld
  • Manage organisational insurance schedules
  • Maintain compliance with the CATSI Act 2006
  • Ensure maintenance of Garnduwa's DGR & PBI status
  • Oversee management of the Asset Register
  • Supervise the HR Coordinator & Trainee Program
  • Manage all IT systems and equipment
  • Fleet Management, with support from the Office Manager

Please note: This role will involve overnight travel to remote Aboriginal communities and regional centres, including the use of dirt roads, small aircraft or 4WD vehicles.

About You

Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. Demonstrated experience working in diverse cultural backgrounds and working in multiple locations
  2. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively problem solve, maintain productive working relationships and negotiate with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  3. Tertiary level qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business or equivalent
  4. Demonstrated experience working in a financial management role with significant responsibility and accountability
  5. Experience in fleet and asset management on both a practical and systems level
  6. Demonstrated effective organisational skills
  7. Proven experience in working in a consultative manner with Aboriginal people
  8. Strong computer literacy
  9. A current manual driver's license
  10. Willingness to travel to remote and regional communities as required and to support cross regional events at ground level

Desirable

  1. A keen interest in Sport & Recreation
  2. Formal qualification(s) in human resources or other relevant area

 

Please note: It is a requirement that all Garnduwa employees undergo a National Police Clearance Check and Working with Children permit prior to commencement. A current 'C' Class Manual Driver's License is also required.

Established in 1992, Garnduwa Amboorny Wirnan is a not-for-profit organisation established to promote and support the delivery of quality sports and recreation programs in the Kimberley region of WA. Now working with over 30 remote communities, their services have expanded to include leadership, self-esteem, healthy eating and suicide prevention programs, designed in response to problems with school attendance, physical/mental wellbeing, and involvement with the juvenile justice system.
